At Southland Girls' High School we are very fortunate to have the support of an active Old Girls' Association.

They have been stalwarts of the school for over 100 years and have branches in Southland, Otago, Timaru, Queenstown and Wellington.

The Old Girls have given us many beautiful treasures in and around the school, a beautiful statue of Rebecca in the school foyer, the lectern in the assembly hall, chiming clock in the foyer and numerous other art treasures But more importantly they are unfailing in their loyalty to the school. We often say "once a Girls' High girl, always a Girls' High girl." (You never ever lose the feeling of belonging.)

And in this day and age when things are constantly changing, the Old Girls are a blessing. The most recent celebration of this Association was the 125 year anniversary. Prior to this, there was a celebration of the move from the original Forth Street building to the 'new' school in Tweed Street, (our current building) celebrated in 1998 on the 50th anniversary of the 'Great Trek'.
