In December 2020, SGHS launched an exciting new initiative to celebrate the history and tradition of our school with the introduction of our Generational Badges.
New and current students at SGHS receive a badge to celebrate which generation of their whānau they represent. They receive this badge once their Annual Student Utility Fee is paid.
If purchasing for someone other than a current student – the cost is $6.00 per badge, payable to Student Services by cash only. (If a new or current student loses their badge, they will need to purchase a new one).

| Generation 3 | My grandmother, my mother and/or Aunty, and I came here. |
| Generation 4 | My great-grandmother, my grandmother, my mother and/or Aunty, and I came here. |
| Generation 5 | My great-great-grandmother, my great grandmother, my grandmother, my mother and/or Aunty, and I came here. |
