Term 2 Badminton Years 7 - 13

  • Venue: Badminton Hall, Surrey Park
  • Cost: $30 per player
  • When: 6 week competition
    • Year 9-13 play on Mondays or Tuesdays from 4.00 pm – 5.15 pm
    • Year 7-8 play on Thursdays from 4.00 pm – 5.15 pm

JUNIOR HIGH – YEAR 7 and 8, BASKETBALL LEAGUE – Term 1 and 2 2021

The 2021 SBA Junior High Basketball League commences on Tuesday 2 March and runs over 9 Tuesday nights at ILT Stadium Southland.

Dates for this year’s league are:
March 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30
April 13
May 4, 11 and 18

SENIOR BASKETBALL - Term 2, Year 9 - 13

The 2021 SBA Secondary School Basketball League will commence this year on 14 May 2021 and be run on Friday nights at ILT Stadium Southland and school gyms.

Competition length may vary dependent on number of teams entered but will be approximately 10 - 11 weeks.

Dates for this year’s league will be the following:
14, 21 and 28 May
3*, 10*, 18 and 25 June
2 and 30 July
6, 13 and 20 August

Year 7/8 Girls Smash Cricket

  • Venue: Queen's Park Cricket Oval, 150 Gala Street
  • When: Monday's ALL games start at 3:45 pm.  Season has now finished for the year. 

National Primary School Shield

This is a Twenty20 school based competition for girls in Year 7 and 8.  The Otago/Southland competition commences in Term 1 with the winner progressing to the National Finals to be held in Term 4 of 2021. 

Year 9 - 13 Cricket (Gillette Venus Cup Competition)

The Otago/Southland competition commences in Term 1 with the winner progressing to the National Finals to be held in December in Palmerston North. All games are Twenty20.

The Otago winner is awarded the Bates Cup.

Year 7/8 Gymsports Club

We would like to welcome any Year 7 and 8 students to join our club and be part of the SGHS Gymnastic Team in 2021.  Cost to participate is $20.00.

All students who participate in Gym Club can be in the SGHS teams participating in the Invercargill Gymsport Festival which is traditionally held the Sunday before the last week of Term 3.  The date will be confirmed in Term 3 by the Invercargill Gym Club.

Hockey Season 2021

Hockey is played over Term 2 and 3, and starts Monday 10 May for Year 9 - 13 and Thursday 13 May for Year 7/8.  The season finishes in August of Term 3 (end date will be confirmed closer to the time).

  • Year 9 – 13 play on Monday or Tuesday nights
  • Year 7 and 8 play Thursday nights

Where: Invercargill Hockey Turf

Draw: All games are between 4 pm – 6 pm.  The draw will be made available via the Hockey Southland App - this can be downloaded via the Apple store or GooglePlay Store.  Our Sports Office will also have the draw available each week on the Sports Noticeboard at school.  

Tournaments: SGHS enter teams in the Southland Wide Competition. The Senior A Team attend the Triangular tournament in Dunedin and will attend a SISS Tournament in Winter Tournament week (Venue to be confirmed).

Trainings: Trainings are held on Monday nights.  First training will be Monday, 3 May. If your child is not able to attend a practice please advise the team coach/manager as soon as possible.

    • Year 7/8, SGHS Red and SGHS Blue Teams: 3:30 pm - 4:30 pm
    • Senior A/B teams: 7 pm - 8 pm

Permission Form/Hockey Guidelines: SGHS permission form/payment, due Friday 7 May 2021.

Netball Season 2021

Our season starts in April and goes through until August.  SGHS enter teams in the Invercargill Netball Centre competition as well as send teams to various Secondary School Tournaments across the South Island.

Season Start Dates: 

  • Open Grades: Saturday 10 April Grading
  • Secondary School Grades: Saturday 22 May Grading
