Question: When are different sports offered during the year?
Refer to our Sports Noticeboard. Under each sporting code will be the dates sport is played.
Question: What are the typical team practice times and days?
Generally, practices are held Monday-Friday. Practice times vary and are usually set by the team coach.
Question: What is required before a student can participate in a sport at SGHS?
A completed permission form by a parent/caregiver.
Registration Fees incurred by the sporting organisations must be paid in full to SGHS prior to a sport starting. Please refer to SGHS Payment Policy on our Permission Forms page on this website, or click HERE to view.
If a student has not paid in time they will not be entered into a SGHS sports team.
We recommend that you check your family account balance via the EDGE Parent Portal on a regular basis.
Question: How does my student get to and from sports?
It is the student’s responsibility to make their own way to after school sports.
For tournaments, students will have transport provided for them to and from the chosen venue using the school vans or chosen bus provider.
Question: Are teams trialled?
For some sports trials do occur. Trial dates and times are posted on the Sports Noticeboard on our website under the sport, they are also placed in the Student Notices.
Question: Where do we find the Sports Draws?
Either via the sporting organisations website and/or on the SGHS Sports Noticeboard in the Meeting House.
Question: How will I know about changes, rain-outs, or cancellations?
We try our best to notify families and students of any cancellations via email and the school Instagram account – @sghsnz
We recommend that families and students keep an eye on the sporting organisations websites and social media accounts if they have concerns regarding changes, cancellations.
Question: What if my child is not able to make a practice or game day?
If possible, please make sure you give the Coach/Manager or our Director of Sports 24 hours’ notice if your child is not able to make game day. This allows enough time to find another player to fill in.
Question: What if my child loses or damages part of her uniform?
All uniforms and equipment checked out to the student are the responsibility of the student. Any uniform or equipment that is lost will be billed to the student at replacement cost. A student may not participate in another sport, until all equipment issues have been resolved.
