We are an approved Cambridge International School, registered to offer programmes from Cambridge International Education, part of the University of Cambridge. We are proud to be part of the world’s largest international community of schools, preparing students for life with Cambridge qualifications that are valued by universities and employers around the world.
Southland Girls’ High School offers IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) to our Year 10 students.
This internationally recognised Cambridge University Exam is normally sat by Year 11 students, however we believe that by offering it at Year 10 we are better preparing the girls to be able to achieve ‘excellence’ at Level 1, 2 and 3 at NCEA.
Southland Girls’ High School is also a recognised University of Cambridge Examination Centre. This means that International students who are older than 16 years, but who have taken similar Cambridge courses before, can in fact sit IGCSE at our school.
Southland Girls’ High School is committed to students achieving excellence. As the only school south of Dunedin offering IGCSE, we think this clearly shows our drive for excellence, and to ensure the girls have opportunities to excel in their learning beyond their chronological age.
