Please note that School policy of full payment must be received before your daughter is eligible to begin lessons. If payment is not received before lessons begin your child will not be able to have lessons. Once payment has been made and lessons have started there will be no refunds.  Payments will be allocated to any unpaid fees and chares on your child’s account first.

Please read the following carefully and sign that you are in agreement with the level of commitment we expect from you.

  1. I accept that my involvement in the Itinerant Music Programme is an extra commitment, and that I will meet the obligations associated with it.
  2. I agree to act in a responsible, respectful manner when at my lesson.
  3. I agree to practise the material asked of me and to fulfil all homework expectations to always ensure I give my best.
  4. I accept that attendance at all lessons is essential. If I cannot make it to a lesson because of a school commitment or illness, I will email Mr de Blois, or, with my tutor’s permission, text him/her directly.
  5. I will contribute to the musical life of Southland Girls’ High School by involving myself in formal or informal performances.
  6. I understand that the payment required must be paid in full (or a payment plan organised) at the Student Services Centre prior to the lessons starting. If I choose not to continue with lessons after they have started, any monies paid will not be refunded.

Payment for materials is as follows:

  • While the Ministry of Education covers the labour cost of lessons themselves, incidental costs of $15 per term which cover the associated resourcing, maintenance, and administration, are invoiced to parents directly from the school’s Finance Department.
  • If you need to hire an instrument, this will be charged at $20.00 per term. Please email Mr de Blois for information.
  • Payment will be based around the number of terms that the lessons occur. This, in turn, is dictated by demand and ideal group size for your particular instrument.  You will receive confirmation of your lesson time and payment request once the timetable has been drawn up.
  • Years 11 – 13 students will only be charged for three terms because of their going on study leave in Term 4.

Once this contract is received, an email will be sent confirming when your child’s lessons will be scheduled. Details of payments due will be sent from the school Finance Department.
