This week we had some Yr 9-13 students involved in a United Nations Youth Hui to contribute their thinking to the Aotearoa Youth Declaration. The Declaration is a collection of policy priorities and concerns of young people from across New Zealand, which is then presented to the Minister for Youth.
Our facilitators workshopped us through a scenario where we had to consider multiple perspectives on an issue before moving into a group negotiations task between government and company representatives.
The afternoon session was a Rōpū Time where the students looked at transport, environmental, economic and education issues related to Southland and then connected this to a national perspective.
Thank you to UN Youth New Zealand for providing this opportunity to inspire global citizens from SGHS.
