Y12 Agribusiness Trip to Ocean Shells Ltd

Ocean Shells Ltd will be hosting the Level 2 Agribusiness class to investigate how they future proof their business.  This field trip will be used as the case study for their internal on how businesses future proof to remain a viable business worth 4 credits.

Ocean Shells Ltd will be showcasing their factory and showroom. They will also discuss staffing and how society influences the way the business operates at times, alongside how the environment and new legislation affects the way they operate as a business.

Date: Thursday 10 August 2023

Times: Departing SGHS 10.00am, Returning: Heading back to SGHS at 12:15pm with expected arrival time of 12:45pm

Transport: We will be travelling via Go Bus

Food: Students need to bring morning tea and lunch on this day, as we will be eating while we are in the bus.

Clothing: Students are required to wear tidy casual clothing that is warm, and wear a high vis vest whilst we are at the business. Covered in footwear is a must, and hair tidied up off their face.

Cost: $24 to cover the transportation cost

Venue: Ocean Shells Ltd, 80 Bath Road, Riverton

This event contains risks, including walking around Ocean Shell factory.  This event is managed by school staff who will manage risk and hazards according to the school’s safety management plan.  This includes wearing high vis vests at all times while we are there, students are not to be on their phones while we are on site and need to be aware of the machinery and vehicles within the complex.  While risks can be maintained to acceptable levels they cannot be totally eliminated.  Some risk is retained for its learning and experiential value.  If you wish to come in to school to see our safety management systems or have any questions, feel free to contact Kelly Gentle.

It is important for safety reasons that students follow instructions given to them by all staff and follow all appropriate school rules. Behaviour by students that is deemed dangerous and puts themselves and/or others at undue risk will result in the parents being contacted and asked to be collected and removed from the field trip. It would also mean they are at risk of not being chosen to attend other field trips in the future.

These events are managed by the appropriate sporting body in conjunction with school staff who will manage risk and hazards according to the school’s safety management plan. This includes careful consideration of the risks, all risks will be outlined to the students. While risks can be maintained to acceptable levels they cannot be totally eliminated. Some risk is retained for its learning and experiential value.   • Follow the rules and instructions of staff and other supervisors at the events.
  • Look after myself and my personal belongings.
  • Declare medical conditions that could affect participation in the events.
  • Accept the rules set by the school for the events.
  • Take part in all activities within ‘challenge-by-choice’ options

I understand that my parents / caregivers will be contacted and I may be sent home at their expense if:

  • My actions are considered unacceptable by staff / supervisors of these events.
  • I breach the behaviour / discipline standards of the school.
  • My actions put me or others in any danger.
