South Island 1st XV Rugby Tournament, 18-19 August 2023

Your child will be representing the school at the South Island 1st XV Rugby Tournament being held in Christchurch on the 19th August 2023. 

Accommodation: ASURE Christchurch Classic Motel & Apartments,  280 Riccarton Road, CHRISTCHURCH 8041, Phone 03 341 1280

Transport: Depart from Southland Girls High School on Friday 18th August at 8am. Depart Christchurch 2.00pm on Saturday 19th August. Pick up when return will be from Enwood Hostel, 15 Enwood Lane, Invercargill

Food: Lunch in Oamaru – packed lunch or players purchase a healthy lunch arrive to Christchurch late afternoon. Dinner in Oamaru on the way home. We will supply food for breakfast and pre-match food. We will also get a box of mixed fruit for the bus trip up and back. All other times players will be responsible for purchasing their own meals. We will be all together for all meals e.g. either on the bus, at the motel, aftermatch function or at Riccarton mall.

Clothing: Players will require their full winter uniform to wear to the game and to wear to the aftermatch function.

Cost: $150.00 per person. Please complete permission, payment and health form.

Game: Saturday 19th August at Christchurch Boys High School Ground Number 1 at 11.15am. After match function from approximately 1.00pm

  • Board financial procedure requires payment in full, by the due date for your child to purchase resources, participate in sports or attend trips/events. Payments received will be allocated to the oldest unpaid fees and charges owing on your child’s account first. Extra-curricular activities operate on a “pay before you play” policy 

This event contains risks associated with travel and sport, including road travel and common injuries like strains, sprains and dislocations. This event is managed by South Island Schools Rugby Council and school staff who will manage risk and hazards according to the school’s safety management plan. Behaviour by students that is deemed dangerous and puts themselves and/or others at undue risk will result in students begin sent home at the cost of the parent/caregivers.

These events are managed by the appropriate sporting body in conjunction with school staff who will manage risk and hazards according to the school’s safety management plan. Some risk is retained for its learning and experiential value. I understand that sports, trips, and extra-curricular activities are opportunities for me to learn, practice skills, and gain attitudes and values in an environment outside of the school.  I realise that this requires me to take on genuine responsibility for my own enjoyment and safety and that of others.

  • Show courtesy and consideration to others.
  • Follow the rules and instructions of staff and other supervisors at the events.
  • Look after myself and my personal belongings.
  • Declare medical conditions that could affect participation in the events.
  • Accept the rules set by the school for the events.
  • Take part in all activities within ‘challenge-by-choice’ options

I understand that my parents / caregivers will be contacted and I may be sent home at their expense if:

  • My actions are considered unacceptable by staff / supervisors of these events.
  • I breach the behaviour / discipline standards of the school.
  • My actions put me or others in any danger.
