A huge night earlier this week for the SGHS choirs who participated in the NZCF Big Sing regional competition – with both receiving awards!
- Sanguine – Highly Commended
- Femme – Highly Commended
- Best performance of a New Zealand Composition/Arrangement
- Best performance, Choral Art Music (non-New Zealand)
- The Big Sing/Ministry of Youth Development ‘Spirit of the Festival’ Youth Ambassadors Award. This is awarded to a choir who encourages leadership, community participation, collaboration and innovation.
This is the first time Sanguine has received an award so the excitements levels were HIGH!
To Miss Rae, Mr De Blois and accompanist Sarah Sarfaiti – thank you. For the time, patience, care and expert guidance you provide to the students of both choirs – their success is a joint venture with you.
To the families, school community and various other members of the village who help support the students – thank you.
A special thank you to Whaea Marama Davis and senior student Ashleigh Putt-Fellowes for the incredible karanga for one of the songs performed.
