We were very fortunate to have some of our SGHS Old Girls Association in for a tour around the school yesterday. It was very special for them to come and re-connect with each other and our current students.
Joyce Gilbertson nee Petrie who was Head Girl in 1946 is pictured here with some of our Year 8 ambassadors. Joyce was at SGHS during World War II – where they held classes in old army huts, they also had trenches outside the school in case it was invaded! Her and Margaret Price nee Mathieson were both part of the “Great Trek” from Forth Street to Tweed Street where they transported library books in their bicycle baskets and walked very slowly carrying bottles of chemicals to the new laboratories!
It was so lovely to have you all here and the students really enjoyed chatting and hearing all the stories!
