Alumni News: Amy du Plessis in Matatū Rugby Squad for 2022!

Congratulations to former student Amy du Plessis (attended SGHS 2013-17), who has recently been named in the Matatū Rugby Squad for the coming 2022 Super Rugby Aupiki competition.

It is the first women’s professional rugby competition to be played in New Zealand! 🎉

Amy started her rugby career playing for the SGHS First XV rugby team and has since made her mark in the NZ Black Ferns Sevens team, Spirit team in Otago and most recently Canterbury Rugby.

We can’t wait to watch the new rugby competition and wish Amy all the best – a very proud moment for our school and very inspiring for our up-and-coming rugby stars.
