Prizegiving History of Cups: Christine Cumming Award

This week will see SGHS hold its senior prizegiving without our valued school community in attendance as we ensure we follow Level 2 guidelines.

To acknowledge the long and illustrious history we have of celebrating our students success – we thought a walk down memory lane to share the history of some of the senior awards that will be handed out on Thursday was in order.
THE CHRISTINE CUMMING AWARD – Christine was the Head Prefect from 1914-1915 at SGHS and was also awarded Dux in 1915. She was also a staff member from 1939-1961.
Outside of school she was a District Commissioner for the Girl Guides. This inspired her to gift the school a cup that is awarded each year to a school group for their exemplary service.

First awarded in 1962 – the cup is engraved with numerous groups from the school that have served both the school and outside community.
