NCEA L1 PE Course 2024

As part of your child’s NCEA Level 1 Physical Education course, they are required to participate in a number of practical sessions. These will primarily begin in Term 1 and will continue intermittently throughout the year.

These sessions will take place outside of the school grounds and during class time and include:

  • Badminton – involves equipment and professional coaching
  • Physical activities within the community including pool entry and swim, gym sessions and fitness classes, EOTC experiences, local walks, yoga and community service
  • More detail will be emailed out prior to the different activities taking place

Transport: students and staff will be walking/running or transported by GOBus to the various venues.

Cost: $100.00 per student – full payment is due by Thursday 4 April 2024. This cost is over and above the normal costs associated with the curriculum.

Please note: School Policy requires payment in full for your child to be eligible to participate in these activities. Payments will be allocated to any unpaid fees and charges on your child’s account first.

This event contains risks associated with sport, including common injuries like strains, sprains and dislocations. SGHS will help to manage risk and hazards according to the school’s safety management plan. This includes careful planning, following guideline set from other providers. While risks can be maintained to acceptable levels they cannot be totally eliminated. Some risk is retained for its learning and experiential value. It is important for safety reasons that students follow instructions given to them by all staff, officials and follow all appropriate school rules. Behaviour by students that is deemed dangerous and puts themselves and/or others at undue risk will be sent home at the cost of the parents/caregivers.

I understand that playing sport is an opportunity for me to learn, practice skills, and gain attitudes and values in an environment outside of the school.  I realise that this requires me to take on genuine responsibility for my own enjoyment and safety and that of others.

  • Follow the rules and instructions of staff and other supervisors at the events.
  • Look after myself and my personal belongings.
  • Declare medical conditions that could affect participation in the events.
  • Accept the rules set by the school for the events.

I understand that my parents / caregivers will be contacted and I may be sent home at their expense if:

  • My actions are considered unacceptable by staff / supervisors of these events.
  • I breach the behaviour / discipline standards of the school.
  • My actions put me or others in any danger.
