Year 12 Agriculture Field trip to Crunchy Microgreens – 26 Feb 2025

As part of our Level 2 Agriculture class, the girls are growing lettuces hydroponically, it is a great opportunity to see vertical planting at Crunchy Microgreens. They run a tailored programme for our high school students, where they learn about how to grow microgreens in a unique way. This is an important component to completing their 4-credit 2.1 Internal Investigation which we begin the year with.

  • Cost: no cost. Please complete the permission form below by 19 February 2025
    • Please note: Board financial procedure requires payment in full, by the due date for your child to purchase resources, participate in sports or attend trips/events. Payments received will be allocated to the oldest unpaid fees and charges owing on your child’s account first.

Mel Young has a current first aid qualification and will be always carrying a first aid kit. Benji from Crunchy Microgreens is hugely experienced with working with school groups of students and is very safety conscious. Each student will get the most out of this Incredible opportunity.  If for some reason an accident does happen, Mel Young will ring the parent Immediately and notify the school.

 This event contains risks, including slipping over on the wet ground while visiting the growing conditions of the microgreens, breathing in micro-organisms while inside the growing houses.  This, event is managed by school staff who will supervise risk and hazards according to the school’s safety management plan. This includes careful use of appropriate nonslip footwear, walking carefully in the areas that are slippery and wearing a face mask when inside the growing houses to prevent any micro-organisms being inhaled. While risks can be maintained to acceptable levels they cannot be eliminated.  Some risk is retained for its learning and experiential value.  If you wish to come in to school to see our safety management systems or have any questions, feel free to contact Mel Young on 2116030 or email [email protected] .

It is important for safety reasons that students follow instructions given to them by all staff and follow all appropriate school rules. Behaviour by students that is deemed dangerous and puts themselves and/or others at undue risk will result in your child being picked up by a caregiver and not attending further Year 12 Agriculture trips this year.

These events are managed by the appropriate sporting body in conjunction with school staff who will manage risk and hazards according to the school’s safety management plan. This includes careful consideration of the risks, all risks will be outlined to the students. While risks can be maintained to acceptable levels they cannot be totally eliminated. Some risk is retained for its learning and experiential value.
