Your child is involved in a learning package called ‘Enterprise Studies’. Students will be learning about the essential elements of good business practice as well as finding out about their own areas of strength. Later in the semester, students will form a company with a small group to create a product which will be sold on Market Day.
An investment of no more than $25.00 will be required by each student, once they have formed their company. It is strongly recommended that you encourage your child to use their own money to invest in their venture. The students will bring this money to school when their company has decided which product is going to be made. They pay it to their group’s Finance Manager. If all stages of the guidelines are followed and completed, the investment will be returned, and a profit made.
During this program your child will be required to come up with product ideas and complete costings to determine an economically viable product to create. This may necessitate her visiting town, (with her company), during school hours. The dates for the trip to town are variable but a rough indication for these is noted below.
- Product purchasing – weeks 1 and 2 of term 2 2025- Individual teachers will advise their classes and caregivers as this is weather dependent
The town visit is a privilege not a right, students must demonstrate appropriate behaviour and maturity leading up to the visit. Students will walk into town in their groups. When visiting town your child will be expected to wear full school uniform, follow school guidelines and return by the time set by their teacher. Normal school rules will apply.
The students’ Market Day will be on Wednesday 18 June 2025 you are more than welcome to come along to see the amazing goods the students make.
This event contains risks, including trip hazards while walking to and from the event. This event is managed by school staff who will manage risk and hazards according to the school’s safety management plan. This includes careful instructions about procedures to follow should an emergency arise. While risks can be maintained to acceptable levels they cannot be totally eliminated. Some risk is retained for its learning and experiential value. If you wish to come in to school to see our safety management systems or have any questions, feel free to contact Michael Bishop (HOF Social Sciences) 03 2116030.
