Y7/8 SGHS Gymnastics Club 2024

 Dates:                   Starting Monday 22 July and running until Monday 23 September 2024

Practice Times: Monday Lunchtime and After School Thursday 3.15pm-4.30pm, Gymsport Festival to be held on Sunday 22 September 2024 time to be confirmed

Venue:                  Practices in school gym. Gymsport Festival Southland Gymnasium, 22 Conway Crescent, Glengarry Invercargill

Clothing:              Practices SGHS PE Uniform. Festival to be confirmed

Costs:                    $20 to participate in Gymsports Festival due 22 July 2024

The club caters for all levels of ability from beginner to expert. The gymnasts will be coached in teams by senior school students. Teachers will also assist with coaching and overall supervision and organisation.

All students in the SGHS gymnastic club will be eligible to participate in the 2024 Southland Gymsports Festival. This will be held on Sunday 22 September at the Southland Gymnasium. Please consider your child’s availability for this date when she makes the decision to join.

This event contains risks, including common injuries like strains, sprains, dislocations.  This event is managed by school staff who will manage risk and hazards according to the school’s safety management plan.  This includes careful consideration of the risks and all risks will be outlined to the students.  While risks can be maintained to acceptable levels they cannot be totally eliminated.  Some risk is retained for its learning and experiential value.  If you wish to come in to school to see our safety management systems or have any questions, feel free to contact kerrin.tattersfield-smith@southlandgirls.school.nz or on 03 211 6030

It is important for safety reasons that students follow instructions given to them by all staff and follow all appropriate school rules. Behaviour by students that is deemed dangerous and puts themselves and/or others at undue risk will result in parents/caregivers being called to collect their child and not being able to participate further.

Some risk is retained for its learning and experiential value.   • Look after myself and my personal belongings.
  • Declare medical conditions that could affect participation in the events.
  • Accept the rules set by the school for the events.
