Southland Girls’ High School Annual Sports Day 2021

The school will be holding its annual sports day on Tuesday 23rd February 2021. This is a fun day for all students to participate in athletics events involving running, throwing and jumping. Students are encouraged to enter at least four events to help earn points for their school house.

The postponement date is Thursday 25th February 2021. This will be advertised via Classic Hits (98.8FM) at 7.00am, 7.30am and 8.00am, as well as our school Facebook page, Instagram and the School Stream App.

This is a normal school day, and all students are expected to be at school. In addition to the events running, students will also participate in both the house chant and best dressed house competition where students are asked to come dressed in their house colours to show their support.

Please note face paint is NOT permitted at school and is to be applied before arriving for the day. It must also be removed by those students who travel by bus before leaving at the end of the day.

Some other important information:

  • The school Food Hub will be open for those students wishing to purchase food on the day.
  • Students must bring sufficient food and water for the whole day.
  • Sunscreen and a hat are to be worn.
  • Students are required to be at school all day and are not permitted to leave.
  • All events will be finished at 3.10pm

Students who qualify for the Southland Secondary Schools Athletics Championships (Years 9-13) will attend this event on Saturday 13th March at Surrey Park, Invercargill.  Students in Year 7 and 8 will attend their championships on 27th March 2021 at Surrey Park, Invercargill.
Mr Lamont, Teacher in Charge of Athletics, will advise further information about these events via the school website, Facebook and Instagram.

Parents and caregivers are most welcome to attend our sports day to cheer the girls on unless we are still under Level 2 restrictions. This unfortunately means visitors, parents and caregivers will not be permitted onsite. Thank you for your understanding.
