SGHS/SBHS Junior Production: Important Announcement

Dear Parents and Whanau,

After much thought and discussion, we have decided to postpone the Junior Production for 2020. This decision has been made because of the unknown element that COVID-19 still provides and the financial obligation this show brings. If we start the process, there is no room to cancel. As a result, if we ended up in a position where we had to alter the way the show could be performed because of audience number limitations, there would be a huge financial loss. This is a situation we do not want to find ourselves in.

SGHS will retain the rights for the show, to now be performed at the end of November 2021. We are grateful to the rights holders in Australia for allowing us to postpone. We know that the many students who were really interested in auditioning will be disappointed and we apologise for this. If anything, this year is teaching us resilience and ways to think out of the box. I am sure before the year is out, there will be opportunity for students to show their love of the Performing Arts through various other vehicles. We strongly encourage them to take any opportunity that comes their way.

Thank you for your understanding and support. We look forward to bringing you a phenomenal show in 2021.

Sarah Rae

Head of Performing Arts

I understand that playing sport is an opportunity for me to learn, practice skills, and gain attitudes and values in an environment outside of the school.  I realise that this requires me to take on genuine responsibility for my own enjoyment and safety and that of others.

I agree to do the following to make this happen:

  • Show courtesy and consideration to others.
  • Follow the rules and instructions of staff and other supervisors at the events.
  • Look after myself and my personal belongings.
  • Declare medical conditions that could affect participation in the events.
  • Accept the rules set by the school for the events.

I understand that my parents / caregivers will be contacted and I may be sent home at their expense if:

  • My actions are considered unacceptable by staff / supervisors of these events.
  • I breach the behaviour / discipline standards of the school.
  • My actions put me or others in any danger.
