We have had a busy couple of weeks with our Ag students at SGHS! Last week the Year 12 Agriculture class travelled to Telford – SIT in Balclutha as part of our annual Boys High/Girls High trip to look at the career pathway at Telford. The students worked their way around different modules e.g. birthing a dummy cow, flying a drone, learning to use a dog whistle, and erecting an electric fence.
Our second Ag trip was to Awarua Bay visiting Steve and Tracey at Legendairies to look at how dairy farms operate, calving, how we make changes on the farm depending on the number of cows we have, and how we can keep track of the information, what we feed them and the outcome of these. A great time out with some hands-on experiences!
