SGHS welcomed Libby and Christina who were representing Women in Space Aotearoa New Zealand last week to present student Sophie I with her prize for winning the Yr 9/10 Space Up Essay competition about life on Lunar Base Kiwi.
Sophie wrote her essay as if she was living on the base and presenting a speech to a SGHS science week in 2053.
As part of the prize Libby, a software engineer for Rocket lab and Christina, an Aerospace Engineer at Nova Systems shared about their careers within the space industry to science classes and inSiGHtS groups across Yr 7-10.
Sophie was also presented with a NASA flight jacket, Lunar landing Lego kit , a space pen and Space Up merchandise. Congratulations Sophie on this achievement and how you combined creative thinking alongside your science knowledge to complete your essay.
