The SGHS 1st XI football team had a 1-0 win over Bayfield HS at the NZSS Satellite football tournament in Dunedin yesterday.
Dominating a majority of the territory and possession but without creating enough clear-cut chances in front of goal. An excellent defence by Cassia Joyce, Amber Rhodes, Ruby Barton and Katelin King who gave us a solid platform from which to play. With the game in the balance, Anna Williams provided an outstanding save s in goal.
The winning goal came from an excellent pass-through by Isla Smith which set Alice Roy through on goal. Alice showed excellent composure and scored for our 1-0 win.
The team plays Craighead this morning from Timaru. A positive result this morning will see the team through to the semi-finals. Playoff games begin this afternoon.
