On the last day of Term 2 we held our first House Kapahaka Competition – this replaced our previous House Choir Competition. All students and staff practiced throughout Term 2, and it was amazing to see this all come together on the last day of term.
‘Tahu Potiki’ which each house performed was appropriate for SGHS as it is a South Island Haka. Next year we aim to teach our own school Haka ‘ E tu Maraka mai’.
Thank you to our Kapa Haka leaders and House leaders for teaching and supporting everyone on this journey. Results are:
- 1st Gordon – Congratulations!
- 2nd Williams
- 3rd Batten
- 4th Traill
- 5th Mansfield
- 6th McStay
