Great to see our students getting involved with new sporting opportunities with a large number of students being involved in the U14 and U16 Girls Southland Rugby League teams. The teams played at the Southern Zone Rugby League Youth tournament held in Christchurch during July.
With many of these girls new to the sport, they proved to be quick to learn new skills and displayed great attitudes both on and off the field. This was recognized with both teams being awarded the Its Not Okay Fair Play Award.
Two players earned a trial for the South Island Scorpions squad with Sualo L being selected for the team. She is currently training with the Scorpions U16 girls’ team for the National tournament to be held in Taupo in early October.
