A quick update from the Audrey Timlin Memorial tournament, Christchurch today. Bit of a mixed bag after a 5.30am start before our first game at 8.20am. Lost to Mcleans College but came back with a win this afternoon against Pakuranga College. Great first day!

FOOTBALL: Our SGHS 1st XI football team had a 3-2 win over Queens HS at the NZSS Satellite football tournament at Logan Park in Dunedin. We conceded an early goal against the run of play, but soon made it 1-1 through an excellent cross by Lucy Dermody, converted at the far post by Amber Rhodes.

A big congratulations to our students who attended the school cluster finals last week with Amelia M and Abigal A being named the Top 2 speakers who now attend the Invercargill Area finals on the 8th of September. All the students impressed the two external judges with their subject content, research, and delivery.

It’s been a busy and successful week for our students who competed in the annual Japanese Speech Competition for schools held this week. Year 9’s had to do roleplay and Year 10’s had to give 1-minute speech and then answer two questions in Japanese. The hard work shown by all students achieved the following results:
