At the end of Term 2 we held our Year 8 speech finals. This was such a highlight of our year so far. Each of the 12 finalists were involved in their own class competition and from there were put forward to the Year 8 finals.
The top five Year 8 students (pictured), were selected to move onto the next round, which is the Year 7/8 SGHS Speech final competition.
We are really looking forward to this in Term Three. As a school we are extremely proud of all the finalists who took this latest challenge on.

Comment from our judge, Mrs Liggins-Walters: “This year’s speakers should feel incredibly proud of the quality of their speeches. There was a degree of insight and compassion demonstrated that, when coupled with their confident and articulate delivery, made it an incredibly difficult task to find a winner. I look forward to hearing how everyone gets on in the next round of competition.”
