We recently had a small team compete in the NZAS Science and Technology Fair covering an amazing range of topics.
Olivia G (Yr 9) looked at Ocean Acidification with her project titled “How Long till We Swim in Acid.”
Lauren McK (Yr 11) completed a project called Soil versus Soap where she investigated household cleaners’ impact on microorganisms in soil.
Sophie I (Yr 11) investigated the impact on 3D images and the impact on memory in witness identification for her science project and for a technology project created a STEM kit to engage more students in science through the context of creating and then designing bio fabrics.
The girls hard work was recognised with some outstanding awards:
Olivia – Silver Award – (Yr 9/10- Science and Technology), The NZ Coastal Society Award, NIWA Marine Science and 45 South Weather Services-Water Quality Award. Lauren received a Yr. 11-13 Commendation Award.
Sophie received – Silver Award (Yr 11-13) and the ILT Methodology Award for her 3D Justice science entry and a Silver Award and the NZAS Excellence in Technology Award (Yr 11-13) for her Fashion Lab Technology project.
