As part of the 102 Science Course we will be learning about how climate change can affect local areas, we have two field trips planned in Term 2. AS92044 Demonstrate understanding of human-induced change within the Earth system will have us visit Thomsons bush and AS 91920 Demonstrate understanding of a science-informed response to a local issues will have us visit Stead Street Embankment and pumphouse upgrade. While there we will be making observations and predictions, problem solving and critically thinking about the future of these two sites and the surrounding area.
Trip 1: 6 May (Week 3, Period 3 and 4) Trip 2: 3 June (Week 7, Period 3 and 4)
As we are travelling as a whole 102 unit ( 3 classes) the trips will be on the day that science is taking place but may not be in that specific lesson. We are looking to make the least disruption to the students learning on those days.

This event contains risks, including walking on uneven surfaces. This event is managed by school staff who will manage risk and hazards according to the school’s safety management plan. This includes pre-visit monitoring of the track and weather. While risks can be maintained to acceptable levels they cannot be totally eliminated. Some risk is retained for its learning and experiential value. If you wish to come in to school to see our safety management systems or have any questions, feel free to contact Brenda Goodwill on 03 2116030 or [email protected]
It is important for safety reasons that students follow instructions given to them by all staff and follow all appropriate school rules. Behaviour by students that is deemed dangerous and puts themselves and/or others at undue risk will result in school being contacted and the possibility of the student being collected from the site by a caregiver.
