Practice Times: Monday lunchtime and after school Thursday 3.15pm-4.30pm. Gymsport Festival to be held on Sunday 13 September 2026. Time to be confirmed.
Venue: Practices: School gym. Gymsport Festival: Southland Gymnasium, 22 Conway Crescent, Glengarry Invercargill
Clothing: Practices SGHS PE Uniform.
Costs: $30.00 to participate in Gymnastics Club and Festival, due Monday 27 July 2026.
Please note: Board financial procedure requires payment in full, by the due date for your child to purchase resources, participate in sports or attend trips/events. Payments received will be allocated to the oldest unpaid fees and charges owing on your child’s account first. Extra-curricular activities operate on a “pay before you play” policy.
The club caters for all levels of ability from beginner to expert. The gymnasts will be coached in teams by senior school students. Teachers will also assist with coaching and overall supervision and organisation.
All students in the SGHS gymnastic club will participate in the 2026 Southland Gymsports Festival. This will be held on Sunday 13 September at the Southland Gymnasium. Please consider your child’s availability for this date when she makes the decision to join.
This event contains risks, including common injuries like strains, sprains, dislocations. This event is managed by school staff who will manage risk and hazards according to the school’s safety management plan. This includes careful consideration of the risks and all risks will be outlined to the students. While risks can be maintained to acceptable levels they cannot be totally eliminated. Some risk is retained for its learning and experiential value. It is important for safety reasons that students follow instructions given to them by all staff and follow all appropriate school rules. Behaviour by students that is deemed dangerous and puts themselves and/or others at undue risk will result in parents/caregivers being called to collect their child and not being able to participate further.
