SGHS will be entering teams into the Year 9-13 Southland Rugby League Tournament.

Date: Wednesday 25 March 2026, 9.30am-3pm

Venue: Surrey Park

Clothing and Equipment: SGHS PE uniform and rugby boots. Activity top and jacket can also be worn to keep warm. Please ensure to take water to hydrate, sunscreen, hat and/or thermals required depending on the weather.

Transport: Parent/Caregiver responsibility

Cost: $10 – approx cost.

Rugby League contains risks including common injuries like strains, sprains, bruises an dislocations. This competition is managed by SDRL, Southland, Southland Secondary School sport and SGHS will help to supervise risk and hazards according to the school safety management plan. This includes careful consideration of risks and all risks will be outlined to the students. While risks can be maintained to acceptable levels they cannot be totally eliminated. Some risk is retained for its learning and experiential value. If you wish to come into school to see our safety management systems or have any questions, feel free to contact me.

It is important for safety reasons that students follow instructions given them by SDRL, Southland, Southland Secondary School Sport, referees and teach coach and follow all appropriate schoool rules. Behaviour by students that is deemed dangerous and puts themselves, and.or others at undue risk will result in parents/caregivers being called to collect their child and not being able to participate further.
