2024 YEAR 13 CONTRACT

CLAUSE 1 – ATTENDANCE

  1. The correct procedures must be followed for Planned absences, Appointments, Medical certificates, and all other general absences.
  2. Attendance must be 90% plus to be eligible for school events including the Ball, extracurricular trips and other Year 13 events.
  3. Any absences of 3 days or more will require a Medical certificate.
  4. Attendance at all classes, including Academic Tutor times, House meetings and events as well as Assemblies is compulsory.

CLAUSE 2 – COMMON ROOM

  1. All Year 13 students must contribute to the tidiness of the Common Room.
  2. When handing in this contract, it is understood that $10.00 will be paid at the same time to Student Services.
  3. It is expected that to use the Common Room you will contribute to the expenses.
  4. This provides a small fund to cover any extra Common Room expenses such as dishwashing liquid, tea towels (washing of these), purchasing tea, coffee, milo, milk and any other necessary items.

CLAUSE 3 – UNIFORM AND BEHAVIOUR

  1. As a Year 13 student it is expected that you are a good role model for all students. This means wearing your correct uniform with pride – both in and outside the school grounds.
  2. Uniform will be worn correctly; this includes your hair tied back, no facial piercing, no make up and no jewellery apart from one pair of small earrings. This includes sports uniforms.
  3. Cellphone usage procedure will be followed. The “Phone Away for the Day” includes lunchtime and interval.
  4. Conduct at all times will provide a good role model for the younger students, both within the school and in the wider community while in uniform. This means following the school rules and setting a good example of what is expected in all situations.

Common Room Payment

There is a Common Room fee of $10.00 per student (Year 13 only) this is to cover costs for use of the room.

Any payments received for your child will be allocated to the oldest unpaid amounts sitting on your child's account first. Your child is not able to participate until all these amounts are paid in full.

Book a Tour of Enwood House

Come and see all that Southland Girls’ High School offers boarders with a tour of Enwood House that allows you to see our facilities in action, while meeting the staff and the students.

RISKS Disclosure

Weekly sports contains risks, including common injuries like strains, sprains, bruises and dislocations. These events are managed by the appropriate sporting body in conjunction with school staff who will manage risk and hazards according to the school’s safety management plan. This includes careful consideration of the risks, all risks will be outlined to the students. While risks can be maintained to acceptable levels they cannot be totally eliminated. Some risk is retained for its learning and experiential value. It is important for safety reasons that students follow instructions given to them by all staff and follow all appropriate school rules. Behaviour by students that is deemed dangerous and puts themselves and/or others at undue risk will result in your child facing disciplinary actions on their return or sent home at the cost of the Whanau/parents or caregivers.

STUDENT CODE OF CONDUCT

I understand that playing sport is an opportunity for me to learn, practice skills, and gain attitudes and values in an environment outside of the school.  I realise that this requires me to take on genuine responsibility for my own enjoyment and safety and that of others.

I agree to do the following to make this happen:

  • Show courtesy and consideration to others.
  • Follow the rules and instructions of staff and other supervisors at the events.
  • Look after myself and my personal belongings.
  • Declare medical conditions that could affect participation in the events.
  • Accept the rules set by the school for the events.

I understand that my parents / caregivers will be contacted and I may be sent home at their expense if:

  • My actions are considered unacceptable by staff / supervisors of these events.
  • I breach the behaviour / discipline standards of the school.
  • My actions put me or others in any danger.
