DanceNZ Made – 22 August 2025

Your child has begun to work on her dance for the DanceNZmade Interschool competition to be held on Friday 22nd August 2025 at the Civic Theatre. All dances should be viewed by Mrs Bakker in week 2 or 3 of term 3.

Details:

Date: Friday 22 August 2025

Times: Students to be dropped off at 8.45am at the Civic Theatre on Friday 22 August. ALL Day event. Pick up from the Civic Theatre at the end of the show. Please have a way of contacting  your child to know when this is. Show starts at 5pm. End of the show time to be confirmed and determined by number of entries. It was approximately 9.30pm in 2024. If your child would like to leave the civic theatre between the workshops and the show then they need to sign out with Mrs Bakker or Mrs Ineson.

Clothing: to wear PE gear during the day. Own costume for the show

Costs: $35-$100 depending on number of dances being performed by the student. This invoice will be sent to you and must be paid before the event. I cannot upload your music (the site will now allow it) until you have paid.

Food: Please ensure your child has enough food and water to last the whole day. If you would like to come and drop off food for dinner you are more than welcome to do so

  • SGHS Open day Thursday 24 July 2025,  3.00pm-6.00pm at SGHS
  • SGHS Dance Recital – Rehearsal on Monday 4th August 3.30pm-5.30pm, Show on Tuesday 5th August 7.00pm-8.15pm, dancers to arrive by 6pm. All at SGHS Theatre on Tweed.

Your child should have brought home a copy of their commitments regarding requirements for rehearsals, and her responsibilities as a member of the SGHS DanceNZmade team.  Please read this document HERE

Tickets to watch the show are yet to be confirmed. Please see the Civic Theatre website, the DanceNZMade website and our google classroom for any updates on this.

This event contains risks, including potential sprains, strains and bruises from dancing. This event is managed by school staff who will manage risk and hazards according to the school’s safety management plan.  This includes safe warming up and ensuring students medical information is up to date. While risks can be maintained to acceptable levels they cannot be totally eliminated.  Some risk is retained for its learning and experiential value.  If you wish to come in to school to see our safety management systems or have any questions, feel free to contact Mrs Chrissie Bakker on 0211910003.

It is important for safety reasons that students follow instructions given to them by all staff and follow all appropriate school rules. Behaviour by students that is deemed dangerous and puts themselves and/or others at undue risk will result in home being called and being removed from the competition.
