It has been a busy school holiday break for 2 of our students who were selected to represent Southland as members of the National Secondary Schools Brass Band and the Development Band.
Stacey (Yr13) and Samara (Yr11) travelled up to Christchurch for 5 days and attended workshops, rehearsals, and then participated in an outstanding concert performance.
While there, Stacey presented her research project on brass bands which is part of her studies at SGHS, and did an excellent job.
After the intense 5 day event for the students a prizegiving was held with Samara receiving the award for Best Soloist in the National Secondary Schools Brass Development Band – an amazing achievement.
Well done Samara and Stacey – a very successful time in Christchurch and exciting future for you both!
