Invercargill Chess Club Regional Championships – 19 June 2026

Invercargill Chess Club Regional Championship, as part of the Chess Club students are eligible to attend.

We would like to send 2 teams of 4 of our top Chess Players, 1 Team of 4 Year 7 and 8 and 1 Team of Year 9 to 13 students – 8 students in Total to compete against the top teams of other Southland High Schools.

Details:

Date: Friday 19 June 9.15am – 2.45pm

Clothing: Winter Uniform to be worn

Cost: $10.00. Please pay and complete the permission form below by Friday 12 June 2026

  • Please note: Board financial procedure requires payment in full, by the due date for your child to purchase resources, participate in sports or attend trips/events. Payments received will be allocated to the oldest unpaid fees and charges owing on your child’s account first. Extra-curricular activities operate on a “pay before you play” policy.

Food: Students will require lunch or/and can purchase from the school canteen

Venue: James Hargest Senior College

Transport: Parents need to arrange their own child’s travel arrangements to and from the event. Mrs McIntyre will meet them out the front of James Hargest Senior College at 8.55am

This event is managed by school staff who will manage risk and hazards according to the school’s safety management plan. While risks can be maintained to acceptable levels they cannot be totally eliminated.  Some risk is retained for its learning and experiential value.  If you wish to come in to school to see our safety management systems or have any questions, feel free to contact Paula McIntyre on 03 2116030 ext 242.

It is important for safety reasons that students follow instructions given to them by all staff and follow all appropriate school rules. Behaviour by students that is deemed dangerous and puts themselves and/or others at undue risk will result in students being sent back to their timetabled class.

Some risk is retained for its learning and experiential value.
