Your child has been selected for one of our Lit Quiz teams to represent SGHS at the Southland Lit Quiz.

The 2026 Lit Quiz involves teams of 4 from schools throughout Southland competing in a Literature Quiz where they answer 100 questions (10 categories with 10 questions in each) delivered by the Quizmaster. There are also individual questions and prizes as well.

You are very welcome to come and support the teams and be part of the audience. There are questions and prizes for the adults too.

For your child to attend this event please read through the information below and complete the permission form below by Friday 20 March 2026.  

• DATE: Wednesday 25^th March 2026
• TIME: 10.30 am –1.30 pm (competition time). We will leave school at 9:15 am, returning by 2:30 pm.
• PLACE: Maruawai College (formerly Longford Intermediate) Gore
• TRANSPORT:  School Van Hire – driven by Mrs Paula McIntyre the School Librarian and private vehicle driven by Mrs Shona Skelt
• COST: $15.00 per student, full payment due by  Friday 20 March 2026
  • Please note: Board financial procedure requires payment in full, by the due date for your child to purchase resources, participate in sports or attend trips/events. Payments received will be allocated to the oldest unpaid fees and charges owing on your child’s account first. Extra-curricular activities operate on a “pay before you play” policy.
• UNIFORM: Correct SGHS School Uniform
• TO TAKE: Students must take morning tea, lunch, a drink, and pen and paper.
