Your child has been selected to attend the Annual Readers Cup Competition.  They will be in a team of 5 students who will be quizzed on 6 specific books they have been asked to read over the past few months, they will be competing against other local high schools.

Please read through the following information below and complete the permission form – due 9 June 2025.

• Date: Monday 16 June 2025
• Time: 4:00 pm – 5:15 pm. Students need to be at the Ascot Hotel by 3:45 pm and collected at 5:15 pm from the Ascot Hotel.
• Venue: Ascot Park Hotel, Cnr of Tay and Racecourse Road, Invercargill.
• Who: 5 x Year 9 SGHS students.  Whānau is welcome to come and watch the competition.
• Uniform requirements: SGHS winter uniform to be worn.
• Transport: students must make their own way to and from the venue.
• Cost: No cost to enter.

This event is managed by school staff who will manage risk and hazards according to the school’s safety management plan. While risks can be maintained to acceptable levels they cannot be totally eliminated. Some risk is retained for its learning and experiential value. It is important for safety reasons that students follow instruction’s given to them by all staff and follow all appropriate school rules. Behaviour by students that is deemed dangerous and puts themselves and/or others at under risk will result in  students being sent back to their timetables class.
