The next generation of engineers – we think so.
One of our Year 11 Science classes was able to work with Brandy Alger, who is 2 months into her PhD in Disaster Risk Resilience at the University of Canterbury, Faculty of Engineering.
Brandy is working with Ngā Tahu and Ngāti Tūwharetoa communities to gain insight into earthquake, volcano and tsunami risk resilience. Two classes at SGHS – Physics 201 and the Year 11 class pictured, were able to listen to and complete practical experiments focusing on earthquake resilience.
Thank you to Brandy and the University of Canterbury for the visit.
