Our Year 9 students have been learning about the Pōwhiri process, the different roles and responsibilities and the tikanga on the Marae. We will be visiting the Marae to enable the students to participate in a pōwhiri, prepare the food for the pōwhiri, share their pepeha and sing waiata. We invite you as well to come along and be part of our day. The event also enables your child to gain credits as Level 2 & 3. We look forward to seeing you on the day.

Date: Friday 7th March 

Time and Venue: 8:45am – meet at Tomairangi Marae,  9:am Pōwhiri  Finish time: 12:15pm Return time: 12:30pm to SGHS 

Transport: Students to get their own way to Marae and return to school with Go Bus transport 

Clothing: Full Winter Uniform to be worn 

Cost: $20 per student . Please complete and pay by Friday 21 February 2025.

 This event contains risks, including risks including public access and spaces. It is important for safety reasons that students follow instructions given to them by all staff and follow all appropriate school rules. Behaviour by students that is deemed dangerous and puts themselves and/or others at undue risk will result in being sent back to school.
