Extra-curricular activities operate on a “pay before you play” policy. Payments received will be allocated to the oldest unpaid fees and charges owing on your child’s account first. Board financial procedure requires full payment by the due date for your child to purchase resources, participate in sports or attend trips/events.
As per our school policy no sports teams will be entered into a sport/event unless we have an adult coach and manager each week with the students. Please note all adult coaches/managers must be police vetted prior to the sport/event commencing.

Indoor Girls Tag-Touch is an opportunity for girls wish to play Touch in a modified indoor format. It is a game of touch played on a netball/basketball court with four student’s per side. It is to provide players with the confidence to play with an oval ball with their peers in a smaller, modified format, with more touches of the ball, more involvement, and more tries. Players wear a belt with two tags on their hips. All; the same, rules apply as per a game of touch, except instead of a touch being made on the player in possession, the defender must rip off one of the attacking player’s tags. The attacking player needs to plant the ball and step over it where the tag is made.
All games are to be played with four players per side on the court at one time, Teams can have 5 or 6 players to have a couple of rolling subs if they like. There will be 2 x 13 minute halves with 2 minutes for half time.
Indoor Tag Touch contains risks, including common injuries’ like strains, sprains, bruises and dislocations. Tag touch is managed by Touch Southland and SGHS will help to manage risks and hazards’ according to the school’s safety management plan. This includes careful consideration of the risks and all risks will be outlined to the students. While risks can be maintained to acceptable levels they cannot be totally eliminated. Some risk is retained for its learning and experiential value. If you wish to come into school to see our safety management systems or have any questions, feel free to contact Julie Loan.
It is important for safety reasons that students follow instructions given to them by Touch Southland, referees and team officials and follow all appropriate school rules. Behaviour by students that is deemed dangerous and puts themselves and/or others at undue risk will result in parents/caregivers being called to collect their child and not begin able to participate further.
