L2 Agriculture Business Trip Pypers Produce, 26 June 2024

Level 2,  Agriculture Field Trip to Pyper’s Produce

As part of the Level 2 Agriculture Business class, we are going to be carrying out a practical investigation into potatoes. We are looking at how potatoes are grown, how they are marketed here and around the world. Pyper’s product have kindly offered to accommodate our class during our Agriculture lesson. This is the first time we have been given the opportunity to set foot in a large potato growing facility right here in Southland.

The students will hear from experts at Pyper’s, see the process from start to finish and understand the challenges of growing potatoes in Southland with the unpredictable climatic conditions. This field trip is essential to help the students write up their 4-credit internal assessment.  Where they will see what consumers prefer and then test various factors about potatoes. They will then use their result to look at the requirements for growing perfect potatoes to meet the market demands.
