We have been offered the opportunity to visit Te Unua Museum of Southand development site. This is an amazing opportunity for our students to engage with a major community project and learn about what is takes to develop such a large scale architectural project. Naylor Love, the construction and build company have reached out to see if we have students who would like to hear about the project and see it in progress.
Date: Friday 10 October
Venue: Te Unua Museum of Southland, Queens Park
Transport: School van for seniors who have indicated they would like to attend and Go Bus transport for 9AVC students
Uniform: Students will be required to wear their school uniform. Students should bring any medicines that they require for ongoing health issues eg: inhalers. All students and staff will be required to follow safety protocols for the site visit. Closed toes shoes (School shoes) high vis vest and hard hat if required. We will make sure students are supplied with the high vis and hard hat.
This event contains risks including being on a building site. This event is supervised by school staff who will manage risks and hazards according to the school’s safety management plan in conjunction with Naylor Love. These risks will be managed through planning and communication, including use of personal protective equipment. While risks can be maintained to acceptable levels they cannot be totally eliminated. It is important for safety reasons that students follow instructions given to them by all staff and follow all appropriate school rules. Behaviour by students that is deemed dangerous and puts themselves and/or others at undue risk will result in them being removed from the activity and restricted access to future opportunities.
