The Physical Education and Health Department at Southland Girls' High School offers a varied and challenging programme for Year 9 to 13 students.
In Years 9 and 10, students participate in a range of practical activities designed to encourage participation, movement and inclusiveness, as well as a weekly health class where we focus on issues important to our students.
At Year 11, 12 and 13, NCEA Physical Education courses are offered which cover topics such as biomechanics, anatomy, coaching, training principles, societal issues and risk management.
In addition we have a semester Outdoor Education class at Year 12 in which the girls take a large part of the responsibility for their learning.
The Physical Education Department offers a wide range of extra-curricular activities including:
