Pasifika Dance

Kia-Orana, Io Rana, Talofa Lava, Malo E Lei Lei, Mauri, Fakaalofa Lahi Atu, Ni Sa Bula Vinaka, Halo Olgeta, Talohi Ni.

Beginning this year SGHS Pasifika dance group Oli Ula already has a committed group of 16 girls with a passion for dance. They are working towards entering the Polyfest later in the year and practice twice each week to achieve their goal. The group takes its name from a rare Samoan flower that grows only in a few locations, making it a real treasure and hard to acquire. The girls felt that this name fitted well with their group and also portrays the Habit of Mind 'Persistence'.

At the moment there are three pacific islands that are represented in their dances, these being Tonga, Samoa and Rarotonga but there is always room for others!  

Oli Ula look forward their group growing in numbers, learning dances from other Pasifika cultures and sharing what they learn with their fellow students.
