Welcome to Southland Girls' High School
Established in 1879, Southland Girls' High School has had a long and proud history of academic excellence. All girls are encouraged to achieve. Quality teaching and learning are the core of our business. It is what we do best. Learning is personalised to each student and a high standard of achievement and personal conduct is expected. Southland Girls' High School is the only state Years 7 - 13 girls' school in New Zealand.
Our school is incorporated over two sites to provide an integrated and inclusive learning environment. Specialist teaching combined with an innovative curriculum ensure that girls develop skills which encourage them to become not only critical and creative thinkers, but also successful life long learners. We want our students to be independent, and innovative young women, well able to cope with the challenge beyond the school gates. We have the highest expectations for our students. We anticipate that they will spend seven years with us before they go on to tertiary education. Southland Girls' High School girls are successful young women who enjoy and value all the advantages that our unique environment provides. We look forward to welcoming you to our school.
